With Mercedes-Benz Link selected smartphone apps can be transmitted to and operated on the multimedia display. The integration takes place via the interaction of the "Mercedes-Benz Link" function in the head unit, the plug & play "Mercedes-Benz Link" control box, which is connected to the USB port in the centre console or in the front stowage compartment and the "Mercedes-Benz Link" smartphone app.

The "Mercedes-Benz Link" smartphone app is available to download for free in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store and allows the management of the apps that can be used in the vehicle. Alongside the access rights for contacts, calendar and music player of the mobile phone, all 3rd party apps that can be transmitted to the head unit can be viewed within the Mercedes-Benz Link app.
The supported app portfolio as well as the further scope of functions of Mercedes-Benz Link will be successively expanded and allows the quick integration of new trends in the vehicle.

All apps and functions that can be displayed are transmitted to the head unit via a secured interface and are optimised for display and operation in the vehicle. This means their safe use during the journey can be ensured. To prevent driver distraction while on the move, there is no complete duplication of smartphone content. The functions supported depend on the smartphone and market. Supported languages correspond to those of the multimedia system. A data connection via the mobile phone is necessary for certain apps. Charges may be incurred, depending on the mobile phone contract.
