Points of Interest (POI):
Almost 2,740,000 key points of interest are featured on the USB flash drive, including filling stations, car parks, museums, restaurants and hospitals. If required, the navigation system will also show the user the quickest route to 153 Mercedes-Benz service outlets. Some 148,088 restaurants and 25,691 nightlife destinations are included in this navigation update.
Dynamic route guidance based on the latest traffic data (TMC/RDS):
Using the data from the Traffic Message Channel, the navigation system takes into account the latest motorway traffic bulletins and automatically calculates diversions. This convenient service is now available in the following country: South Africa.
Road network updates:
Map updates include millions of changes, e.g. new roads, crossroads, bypasses, junctions and motorway slip roads and exits. One section of road may feature up to 260 attributes, such as the number of lanes or one-way routing. All of these attributes and the vast number of points of interest have to be updated constantly. In this new version, for example, over 8,028 roundabouts, 7,276 turning restrictions, 58,607 one-way streets and 278,019 street names have been updated. In addition, over 65,244 kilometres of road have been updated, including approx. 1,105 sections of motorway and dual carriageway.
This navigation update for NTG5.5 is copy-protected for COMAND Online. To import up-to-date map data, a six-digit activation code is required in addition to the USB flash drive. Each activation code represents a licence to use the map data in a single vehicle and is exclusively valid for a specific combination of vehicle, COMAND Online and map version.
Navigation updates can be purchased via the same channels as to date; the required vehicle-specific activation codes are available via the VeDoc system.
The newly acquired licence is documented in VeDoc at the time of purchase. A charge is made for the activation code, but it can be re-requested free of charge in VeDoc in the event of a replacement.
Details of how to import up-to-date map data and input the activation code can be found in the COMAND Online operating instructions.
Ordering an activation code requires access to VeDoc and specific user permissions. Access to VeDoc is free of charge. Permissions are assigned by the VeDoc hotline.
